A Ten Million Dollar Life

I'm back.

After a long exile from the blogging world, I have decided to start again. This time, it is not only about me, but the world I'm living in.

Question: "How much does your life worth?"

Recently I came across an article. Very interesting. I recommend you read it before you proceed further.

Ok, I read at least three times to fully grasp the whole article, no thanks to all the numbers. (Sigh, economists...) You survived it? Ha ha...

Three phrases from the article caught my attention:
1) Life is dear, but life is dearer when you're rich.
2) As life gets more valuable, we strive harder to protect it.
3) Economists measure the value of a life by people's willingness to pay for safety.

Money. The magical word that wakes you from your slumber. The entity that seemingly plays an important part in almost every aspect of everyone's life. The tool which supposely helps you to fix even the worst possible scenarios. The new value for moral standards. The belief that it can buy almost everything, including life itself. What's your say?

Life is precious. To a certain extent, your life does appears to be more precious when you have the wealth that everyone else covets. From the three phrases that I drew out, there's an interesting pattern that links each one of them.

You are rich, hence your life is more precious than the rest -> you don't want to die earlier than everyone else of your valuable assests -> the more rich your are, you are more willing to pay at any price to ensure the safety of what you have and your life!

Irony. You are rich to pay for your insurance. -_-"

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you are not suppose to get rich. Wealth is a blessing! Please by all means get rich because you will be the one who will always buy me meals. Ha ha ha... Yet, if we are not careful, we might lose our initial focus and the big picture how we got rich at the first place.

So let's say you got everything you want in the world by paying for it. What's next?

We all are in the rat race in the current world we living. The race to get the cheese coated in gold. Sometimes, it can get quite tiring and meaningless at the end of your journey. A life's value would be justified better by finding your purpose in life. A purpose that is more than pursuing material wealth.

Creation itself, is a mysterious yet powerful thing. Look around us. The nature, the animals, the universe, us. Life, is complicated in its own uniqueness of structure in every life forms. What a beauty! Personally, I think life's true value would be best measured by how you live and appreciate things around us, and how you use your life to impact other lives around you.

Your life's value is not mere numbers. Live life to the fullest. Impact others, so we may all impact the world. One life, One world.
